Victor Quick-Kill Mouse Trap - 12 pack

Quick, Easy, Humane

Like the name suggests, this Victor Quick-Kill mouse trap quickly and efficiently takes care of your rodent problem--because you don’t want to mess around when it comes to killing mice. The Quick-Kill trap’s covered bait trough removes any chance of mice sneaking safely off with the bait, while its Precision Strike Technology kills mice instantly and humanely. Known for being one of the easiest and most effective mouse traps on the market, the trap sets in seconds.

Covered Bait Trough and Precision Strike Technology

Other traps can sometimes leave you with no mouse--and no bait. Avoid the frustration of failed trappings and stolen bait thanks to the Quick-Kill’s covered bait trough. After placing peanut butter or other high-protein bait into the trough, raise the red handle on the kill bar and click it into place. When a mouse lifts the cover to access the bait, the kill bar is released. Its Precision Strike Technology enables perfect placement for a quick, humane kill every time.

Reuse or Toss

Constructed of durable plastic, the Quick-Kill mouse trap can be used repeatedly. After catching the mouse, simply raise the kill bar handle to dispose of the dead rodent. Feeling a bit squeamish? No problem. The trap can just as easily be completely thrown away, along with the kill. Either way, when you need that mouse gone fast, turn to the Victor Quick-Kill mouse trap for taking care of it pronto.

WARNING: Contains graphic descriptions of rodent demises.

First, I don''t like killing things. Really, really don''t like it. But I''ve become an experienced rodent-control amateur: in other words, I''m the one friends and family call when they have persistent mouse problems. Dryer sheets and peppermint oil are great in theory, but even if you do manage to find something that repels them, it only delays the inevitable. Sadly, by the time they''ve made their presence known, there aren''t a lot of good alternatives to killing them. And for the record, I''ve had mice carry off a cotton ball freshly soaked in peppermint oil. Apparently they like their bedding minty-fresh.

Rodent poisons are not merely a danger to pets (who might eat either the poison or the poisoned rodent and themselves become dangerously sick), but also to wild creatures who catch mice, such as owls. And glue traps are too horrific and repulsive to warrant discussion. They should be banned. Period.

This is by far my favorite mousetrap. My main requirements are for a trap to
1) inflict as little suffering as possible on the rodent
2) inflict as little suffering as possible on the person setting the trap
3) prevent the mouse from taking the bait without springing the trap.

These gadgets meet all of my criteria for a good mouse trap. First, they''re simple to load, and once the bait is in place, it''s not going anywhere. Without activating the trap, you simply flip the bait compartment door open and drop in the goodies. My personal favorite: peanut butter smeared on a large dog kibble. A dab of fragrant bacon grease doesn''t hurt either. The smell seems to lure them to the trap, and dog kibbles are too big for them to carry off easily. The bait compartment in this trap not only protects the bait from casual examination; it forces mice to approach the trap head-on and stick their little heads right into the bait compartment if they''re serious about going after it.

Ideally a trap should crush tiny mouse necks or skulls in one decisive blow. I''ve seen too many mice get caught by their tails or other body parts in other traps. Again, this is unacceptable. These traps have one small opening exactly the size of, well, a mouse head. The mouse approaches the bait, and whap!!! The bar comes down directly in its head or neck. I''ve never seen a dead mouse in one of these traps that looked like it suffered more than an instant. Also, I''ve never seen one of these traps sans mouse after springing. Not one has gotten away (or even touched the bait) in the time I''ve been using them, and I''ve used a LOT of them. You''ll never have that frustrating experience of finding a sprung trap with the bait gone.

These traps are also hard to trigger by accident, and they don''t have to be active in order to load the bait. In other words, they''re almost human-proof. I''ve been whapped by a lot of conventional traps, and although I use pliers now, I still don''t like working with them. You can safely load these with bait, however, put them where you want them, and then just lift the little red bar to activate the trap.

To dispose of the mouse and trap, put on gloves, scoop up the trap and attached mouse with paper towels or newspaper, and dispose of them in the garbage. NEVER RE-USE MOUSE TRAPS. EVER. And never handle mice or surfaces they''ve touched without gloves. If you''re wondering why, do an Internet search on "diseases mice carry." It''s quite a list. Disinfect the area where the mouse was caught.

A couple of trapping pointers:

1) Set traps in pairs. A cautious mouse might avoid the first trap but explore the second.
2) Set traps where mice travel. They''re creatures of habit and use predictable routes. In my house, for instance, mice run along the backs of my kitchen counters, so I set pairs of traps in their path (parallel to the backsplash).
3) Don''t worry too much about setting traps in the same place repeatedly. Mice don''t seem to mind (or notice) that friends and family met with an unfortunate experience in a certain spot. It was their route long before anyone died there. Sort of like humans driving on a highway despite previous fatalities, if you''ll forgive the comparison.
4) When it comes to bait, use the the kinds of things mice have destroyed in the past. I''ve trapped mice using a pinch of white flour. Cheese is pretty far down on their list of preferred foods. You don''t even have to use food, for that matter. Mice collect soft bedding, too; cotton balls and bits of (wool) yarn or fabric make perfectly acceptable bait.

Buying a batch of these traps at a good price is a good investment, if you have mice. It also addresses the temptation of re-using traps by making them more affordable. After trying everything from dryer sheets to ultrasonic devices, I''ve concluded that trapping is the only way to control an actual infestation, and these are definitely the traps to use.

Seems like the special bait tray helps to actually catch the mouse before they get away, but the spring arm is not strong enough, or placed right, to kill instantly. Strikes on the face/eyes rather than neck where it should. Out of 10 mice caught, 4 just had their faces held and were still alive upon finding them in the morning after setting the night before. I released one live thinking my dog would get it, and the mouse was still able to run away. Had to finish off the other 3 myself. This is extremely traumatic for me as I don''t like to kill things or see them suffer. Still, these are better than anything I''ve bought from Tomcat, Easy to set.

I hate using any trap like this. The need does happen though. I will be the first to wish Sonic devices worked or that using a no kill trap would work for me. I live in a city. I''m sure the neighbors would complain if I did trap and release on their parking spot.

I started my mouse journey with an Exterminator. He came in, dropped blocks of poison around the basement. Said well, that''s all I can do. I paid $200 for someone to walk in my basement and place poison blocks I could''ve ordered.

Decided not to do that again. I ordered the snap traps on Amazon. The wooden basic ones so I could toss the whole thing. That worked for awhile. Then the next generation showed up. Too small to trip the traps but they loved the peanut butter.

So, I bought a Victor electric trap. Mixed reviews. Worthless to me. One in a month. The old school snaps worked better even if I had to keep rebaiting.

Ok, finally the review of this product. I set all 3 last night. The electronic one, the old school snaps and this one. This morning, as usually, nothing on electronic one. The old school snap had one that was obviously an older mouse and larger.(and got put in a bag and tossed trap and all. Not a good sight) and this trap. Clean kill which I did not expect when setting. The release for the trap is built into the cover of the bait. The bait is never touched and everything else lines up.

This is a strange thing to write in a product review for mouse traps, but I don''t have a bleeding heart for mice. I love animals, including the little rodents at the pet store, but rodents can''t run around where people live.

These traps work. The way the bait is rigged under a trap door is very effective, and often catches a mouse within an hour of my hearing something and putting one of these traps down. Mice come in at the start of winter to get warm. The traps are easy to set up and easy to clean.

They DO NOT kill mice quickly. The design relying on the weight of the red piece to allow a less taught spring is a problem. Again, I''m not a "trap and release" kinda guy (no disrespect to those that are). I don''t often encounter mice, and when I do, these usually get the mouse within an hour or two, so I''ve heard it snap. Since the first time I checked too soon (sparing the unpleasant details), I''ve taken to waiting an hour before I go to look.

I''m still using them for now, but I''m throwing them away as I go and won''t be getting them again. I''m going back to old-fashioned traps unless I find something that looks more humane and will also work. These were somewhat expensive and claimed they kill mice quickly. They don''t.

Again, I don''t mind the necessity of getting rid of mice, but it shouldn''t be any worse than is necessary.

These work really well. A little dab of peanut butter (yes, peanut butter NOT cheese. You need to use a bait that contains protein and can be easily smelled from a bit of a distance) attracts mice like crazy. We have been putting them out six at a time in various spots in the backyard and have gotten two or three mice each time.

The traps are easy to fill with a small dab of peanut butter and easy to set. The design is great: No accidental snaps but the snap is quick and hard. It kills the mice instantly, which I like. (I want the little buggers dead but I don''t want them to suffer.)

It is also easy to open the trap to dispose of the mice without having to touch them. So far they are holding up really well. I am very pleased with this product.

If you put the peanut butter in the very back of the covered trigger area these will kill quick and the mouse will not get away or simply be trapped. It''s also very easy to release and dispose of the mouse and reuse the trap. I''ve used this style in the past with great success but I misplaced it and the local store only had the older traditional snap traps with the small metal bait area. Well, I''ve now thrown the older style traditional snap traps in the garbage. FYI, we knew we had at least one field mouse that had decided he liked our house better than the fields around us. I wasn''t very successful using the older style snap traps this time even though I baited 6 of them with peanut butter and positioned them strategically around the hole he was using. He "was" obviously either very lucky or really smart because he''d eat the peanut butter and run the gauntlet nightly. Well... the next morning after placing just a single trap near the opening (and a few others traps under the sink and in the laundry room where any "friends" may be lurking) I caught the mouse and two of his friends in a single night. No more mice! For now...

KILLS THE DEVILS VERMIN DEAD!... Special kill recipe included in this review.

These work really well and are reusable, but I noticed that you have to clean these traps after awhile, coz it''s like the mice can smell death on them and they''ll either avoid them, or the little vermin thieves will just reach into the traps cookie jar to coax the bait out, I use cat food, as the smart ass vermin we are dealing with have a taste for our cats food.

As for the special recipe I use.... I put some cat food in a coffee grinder with a bit of local honey (you can use peanut butter as well), satans vermin go nuts for this stuff! For those of you with nosey pets or annoying brats, I recommend cutting a small hole in a large coffee can (about as big as the UPC label on the can, use it as a guide), and then bait and place this trap inside carefully with pliers or tongs, and then seal it with the lid and place it where the vermin frequent. I found this very effective and my kill rate increased, and it helps to detour your pets/brats so they can''t get to any dead vermin and drag it onto your bed, sofa, take it to school, or whatever? Another cool thing about the coffee can trap, if you use the aluminum ones with rings and liner, you can hear them pop off at night and sometimes hear the vermin squeak their last, so you can remove the vermin and re-bait the trap to catch more. Using this system has increased the kill rate to 90% out of the 20 Victor traps I''m using. No it''s not perfect. No it''s not pretty. But it works better than our cats!...?... Sometimes I wonder why we have cats??? But I digress.

I cannot stress enough the importance to clean the cans and the trap with Ammonia, soak them in Ammonia first, then wash and rinse them well, and keep them dry and clean, as satans little minions can be smart when they smell death about, also as well, keep all food stuffs off the floor in the baited/trapped area to increase the chance of a kill. I also recommend using latex gloves when handling traps or vermin to keep your scent off the bait, traps, cans, etc., and to protect yourself.

I hope these tips help combating these vermin, happy hunting.
